Favorite Achievement: Broke Ass Adventurers

Hehe.

Hardest Achievement: For Your Troubles

THIS PART TOOK ME SO LONG EVEN WITH THE FAST FORWARD TOGGLED ON AND SAVE STATES (which didn't help because the result is pre-determined) - I've never had that much trouble with this shit during my previous playthroughs.

Rarest Achievement: Three Against Three (11.12% Unlock Rate)

I had more trouble with the Ain Gide fight! This was a really sastifying achievement to accomplish, I'll talk about it more below.

Playthrough Notes

And that's about it... my Suikoden II playthrough that I did right after completing this game is much more detailed.

Not a whole lot of images this time!

Aw crap I forgot to rename these files, oh well, hope you enjoy knowing what time I took these screenshots with Greenshot.

The most unrealistic thing about these screenshots is Viktor saying that he has a job.

Between this bucket status effect and balloon effect I think it's safe to say that Suikoden 1 has the funniest status effects out of any video game I've played.

I'm sure this iconic line was changed in the remastered version.

HELL

I'LL KILL YOU

I AM TRYING TO CATCH THAT CAT SHUT THE FUCK UP and yeah I named the castle Toran Castle

"This fellow"?

The unsung hero of this game. Who else could take up the brave task of annoucing the name of the castle?

Meanwhile there's a bunch of OPEN GRAVES to the side.

Cleo's such an underrated character, I'm hoping she makes it into Star Leap!

hey bitch what's up

...... so you have to make several trips through Neclord's castle in order to get Pesmerga and, if you're like me, to get the hidden treasures at the bottom of the screen that the boss fight takes place in (it's the same room you recruit Pesmerga in).

... it's harder to lose money in Chinchorin than it is to gain it.

It took a good while for him to appear. He was also the last - or near the last - star I recruited because I totally forgot how to get him.

This achievement would've been the hardest one to do if I didn't want to rip my hair out after twenty minutes (probably more) of that fucking wheel. When I beat this boss I was a turn away from my party being wiped out. But it was fun! I used the strat on the achievement page and it helped a lot.

kek sorry flik i wanted it to land on viktor like the achievement icon

Well, before this fight, I almost died at Ain Gide because Viktor has shitty MDEF (or whatever it's called in this game) and the boss kept using his AOE fire attack... so after that near disaster I took the Clone rune off of Viktor and gave him a Water rune for extra healing. The first water spell heals all HP to a single character so Viktor's awful magic stat wouldn't apply to its potency. But it turns out I didn't need to do that because Flik's Flowing Rune was more than enough to keep the three characters healed.

Flik was the MVP of both boss fights, his magic stat is pretty good and he's fast so he was able to heal before the Hydra heads could attack. Tir just used the highest tier Soul Eater rune and then attacked. He was doing more damage with his physical attack than with the second tier magic spell he has access to. Viktor just attacked because, like I said, he didn't need to heal. I don't think any of the characters used a Sacrifical Jizo either. This was a fun challenge!

I wonder if part of Gremio's soul is still in the Soul Eater? He did come back to life though so I doubt it, having his sprite here is probably a oversight on the game's part.

The fact that Edge's 'put into the active party' quote is the same as Viktor's line here makes me happy. :)
