You want opinions? You want my bad opinions? You got it, pal. Hope you like (parenthesis)!!
Newer entries are at the top of the list.
Please keep in mind that these are my opinions only. I'm mostly sharing them to get more comforable with sharing my thoughts through writing, actually, but I hope you enjoy reading them. Note that the "true crime" and "creepy things" section obviously has links to violent and disturbing things.
General Opinions
- Cats can be just as affectionate as dogs. I don't know why so many people think that all cats are "anti-social", I've taken care of plenty of cats that have been very pleasant to be around at my job. I even have a friendly cat that has the personality of a outgoing and curious dog! He even snores like one... (Don't worry, my vet says he's fine and it's nothing to worry about!)
- I've always said "pork roll" instead of "taylor ham" because that's what the adults in my life would call the food when I was young. I live in South Jersey, for the record. Besides, isn't "Taylor Ham" a brand? I also call "bennies" "shoobies" and pronouce "water" as "wuddah". No, "shoobie" is NOT a derogatory slur. (If you're a tourist and polite, I would call you a "tourist". If you're a tourist and rude or driving like a idiot, I would call you a "shoobie".) No, I've never pumped my own gas as I've never driven anywhere but in New Jersey. Yes, our traffic is horrible but it's at its worst in Central and North Jersey. Yes, it's very expensive to live in this state. It could be worse.
- Pet rats are very cool and I would rather have a rat than a gerbil, hamster or ferret. It's awful that they don't live long, though. :(
- Beavers are cuter and cooler than otters. Otters can be real jerks.
- It's not cute or funny to call your pet "stupid" or a "idiot". I mean, if it's just once then I'll just brush it off as a slip of the tongue but if you call your pet names like that constantly it's just very embarassing and cringy (I hate that word but it's true in this context) to hear in public. I have a coworker that calls her young dog "stupid" all the time and I just want to berate her whenever I hear her say that.
- I get mildly annoyed when I see someone describe a dog as "wolf-like" but the dog turns out to be the size of a large dog mix, most likely a Alaskan Malamute mix. Wolves are huge and a domesticated dog mixed with a wolf will most likely end up with a canine that... won't have a friendly, normal dog personality. GOD!!! IT'S LIKE MOST PEOPLE HAVEN'T SEEN A WOLF IN REAL LIFE!!! /s (and honestly uhhh i haven't either)
Fandom Opinions
- Final Fantasy VII - as someone who remembers the constant war of "Cloti (Cloud x Tifa) vs. Cloris (Cloud x Aerith)" (Clorith? Whatever.) growing up on the internet, I would laugh my ass off if Tifa and Aerith ended up a couple. (I HIGHLY doubt it but just think about the temper tantrums all those boring people would have!) I've always been a devout Cloud x Tifa shipper but I definately don't dislike the Cloud x Aerith ship or any other ship involving those three characters. At the end of the day, fandom is supposed to be fun and these are fictional characters, there no need to hurl death threats at each other because someone doesn't like your fictional video game ship. (Yes, I've seen that happen more than once and not just in this fandom.)
- Final Fantasy VII - Rude > Reno. I thought Reno was very annoying.
- Mortal Kombat - The "oh jade and kotal khan have a relationship now" development was the worst part of the Mortal Kombat 11 storyline. (Okay, second worst if Sindel's personality change counts but that was DLC.) I was going to write that "there was no indication at all of them being together in any of the past games" but then I realize I ship pairings in other games that never talk to each other so... I still don't like the ship.
- Suikoden - Luc and Sasarai are very overrated and Luc's team were boring antagonists in Suikoden III. I also don't really care for Ted. (These are the opinions that will send me straight to hell, I just know it!)
- Suikoden - II would absolutely be the best game in the series if it wasn't for the awful, awful translation. I'm very eager to see the new translation in the HD remake, even though I don't like the rename of "Star Dragon Sword" to "Celestial Sword".
- Xenosaga - Shion really didn't need to start a relationship with Allen. She suffered through so much, I would've liked it more if she stayed single after the events of the final dungeon.
- I don't like the "shakesperian"-ish dialogue changes in Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions and Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, but the TO translation grew on me a little over time. The original FFT script was flawed but amazing at the same time - "Tough. Blame yourself or god." is a fucking awesome line and I was peeved that it was changed in the remake!
True Crime Opinions
- When JCS dropped a new video (which is a remake of one of their older videos, actually), I was pissed off that so many users made comments like "OMFG IT'S JCS WELCOME BACK!!!! LOL" yet ignored the fact that it's a video about a young woman, Yeardley Love, with a bright future ahead of her being murdered by her ex-boyfriend. Thankfully the top comments right now are mostly commenting about the case and less about JCS' return. The video is pretty good I suppose, but it's worth a watch/listen alone just for the FANTASTIC work by the female detective (Lisa Reeves) during the interrogation.
- I am so, so happy that they caught the rancid piece of shit that committed the Delphi murders. I hope the families and loved ones find peace in the fact that he's behind bars, as well as their community. Those two girls, Abby and Libby, were wonderful young ladies and I hope they are at peace. I cannot believe that he worked in a CVS less than five minutes from the crime scene! Also, a lot of people are crying out for "prison justice" - don't wish for that. If he dies before the trial, there would be a lot of unanswered questions and the girls' family will never be able to confront him with their victim impact statements. After the trial, then yeah, fuck whatever happens to him.
- I mentioned this on my true crime links page but it bears repeating - I loathe it when people treat crimes as something humorous and/or exploit survivors and casualities of crime for profit.
- The JonBenét Ramsey case is something everyone seems to have a opinion about but I keep flip-flopping between two outcomes. I either think the mother was responsible or a intruder did it. The main reason I believe the mother did it would be the ransom note and the strange wording in it. (Why did she just mention the ending "Victory! SBTC" to the 911 operator?) But if she did, I don't think it was deliberate. As for the intruder did it theory, if it was a intruder I'm leaning towards someone that knew the family. There is a fact that I am 100% sure about - the Denver police absolutely fucked up when it came to investigating the case and this horrible death of a six year old innocent girl would most likely be solved be now if the police did their damn job correctly.
If you're looking for a recap of this case, Matt Orchard did a phenomenal video about it. (I also highly recommend the rest of his channel, it's my favorite true crime Youtube channel by far.)
- If I hear about the fucking 112Dirtbag video(s) one more time I'm going to lose it. (It's very common in not only true crime videos but videos about "unsettling" or whatever Youtube videos.) Why are so many creeps drawn to the Maura Murray case? And yes, I am including James Renner when I say "creeps". This Reddit thread goes into better detail about his awful behavior towards her family. In my opinion, she wandered away from her car into the wilderness and succumbed to the harsh winter weather in the nearby forest.
- At the moment, I'm leaning towards The Circleville Writer being Mary. Maybe Ron, who might've had suspicions about her involvement with the letters, and her had a argument the night of his death which lead to his accident (I don't think it was a murder, just a tragic accident) after he "stormed out of the house". That would explain why he was willing to go outside even with the "writer" watching their house. This is a tough case to unravel.
- "The Staircase" murder(s?) is/are another case I flip-flop on what happened. No, I don't think a owl did it. But the similarities between the two murders are just so uncanny that I think he did it.
- And yet another case that I go back and forth on - did Darlie do it? It makes no sense for a intruder to break into a house, murder two of the three children and then attack the mother before fleeing without taking anything from the house... but people can be horrible so it's not out of the question. I also don't know how "superficial" a wound to the neck would be when the wound was so close to her artery. But then there's the sock found a distance from their house... there's so many questions and not enough answers. Regardless, I absolutely belive that this case needs to go to trial again as admitting the "silly string footage" was 100% bullshit.
- This isn't so much as a "opinion" but I found out that the Golden State Killer was caught because Longreads reposted a article about the cases with the update that he was finally caught right as I was loading up the site. Then I started to cry when I fact checked it and it was true. I cried again when I watched the police statement with my mother on her television. I'm so happy that the survivors have closure.
Bonus: here's a clip of one of his surviving victims calling him out on his micro penis. I love the double thumbs up she did and the fact that it was the last line of her statement.
- Cindy James - at first I thought she was having a mental breakdown but after reading about the creepy behavior that the police chief shown towards her I'm heavily beliving that she was stalked and murdered. I think this will be a case of a policeman commiting the crimes, like the Golden State Killer cases, or at the very least knowing more than they should. The voice on the answering machine sounds really fake too, like it's someone trying to make their voices higher. I really feel awful for her, the poor woman suffered through so many awful incidents.
- I'm re-listening to JCS' Jennifer Pan video in the background while working on this page but I don't know why I'm listening to the third interrogation because HE CONSTANTLY SAYS "OKAY" WHEN TALKING TO HER. Several times a minute! I noticed it during the Casefile episode about this crime too. Great interrogator but goddamn it's a annoying vocal tick to listen to.
- Not really a "true crime", but the Who Wants to be a Millionaire cheaters are really fucking stupid. I feel awful for their children. Quite a few comments seem to be "oh he would've gotten away with it if he stopped early!" but the production crew already had their hunches about the cheating, plus I think someone would've rewatched the episode and noticed the coughing. I've seen a video of the original broadcast a while ago and the coughs aren't as isolated as they are in the video I linked above but they're definately noticeable. Also, he had the EASIEST MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION EVER, what a waste.
Creepy Things Opinions
- The "This Man" image really, really unsettled me at first because he has the facial shape, eyebrows and haircut as a younger version of my dad.
- "Ben Drowned" was excellent but sunk so fast when it revived during the pandemic.
- The Max Headroom incident is fucking hilarious but if that came on when I was watching late night television I would've had a panic attack. I think eventually the truth will come out on who did it but I kinda don't want to know. "He's a frickin' liberal!! OHHHH JESUSSS OHHHHH"
- The Art Bell Area 51 caller is 100% fake. He did a great job acting! But I think it's clear that the two calls are by the same actor. By the way, the call at 7:11 in that video is so funny. "This is Nick. ...Satan scratch Beelzebub the devil the father of lies--"
- The Mandela Catalogue started strong but I lost it when I saw the googly eyed angel. 0w0 Then Jerma appeared, plus I think the hooded intruder image is just goofy so I stopped following it.
- The Super Mario 64 "Wario Apparition" is hilariously not scary.
- Cthulhu and other Lovecraftian tales are overrated.
- Catastrophe Crow has to be my favorite start to a ARG ever. The production quality and creepy atmosphere shown during that video (and the videos found after that one was uploaded) are just amazing. Joining the discord just before the rise of the hype was extremely fun too. Sadly, the fact that it just... ended once the Unity game was leaked left a lot of unanswered questions. It sucks that the ARG ended up as another project that started out super strong but had a weak conclusion. Inside a Mind has a video that covers the investigation after the first video was uploaded. The Google Doc has all the findings that the community found listed.
- Oh god, the Watcher house has a Netflix series? So dumb. I was looking up articles to link here but all I'm seeing are articles about the poor neighbours that are sick of people driving up to the house and causing a commotion. I feel really bad for them. I think the Watcher was just one person at first (maybe for the first two letters) but then the copycat Watchers started to send letters as well.
- I love Petscop but the ending... just fell really, really flat. We barely had any answers to any of the popular questions - here's a list of unanswered questions that the viewers were left with. I still love the series despite the hollow ending.
