My favorite mission in the game!
Hardest Achievement: No idea.
I've played the game so many times by now that I don't think any of the achievements were difficult for me.
Yeah, the ending was the rarest this time around. I think I got the "best" ending. (That I don't like because I think Magnus would be an awful king and father.)
Playthrough Notes
- High CF run. I aimed to keep Dio and get all the Zenobians as well as Ankiseth. All Elm Pedras were found. The Princess class and Dragoon class were unlocked as well.
- For CF specific recruits I managed to get:
- Liedel
- Sheen (who I wasn't expecting)
- Ankiseth - I'm honestly unsure if his recruitment is CF based as I always thought that if you keep him alive during the "defying orders" mission you'll automatically get the option to recruit him. Turns out - and I'm pretty sure this is true but not 100% sure! - if your CF is very low he'll just leave at the beginning of Chapter 3.

- Dio (if I replay this for the low CF achievements he's gonna get let go OOPS)
- Leia
- Troi
- Katreda
- Asnabel
- Vad
- Meredia
- Europea
- As I usually do I kept all the character in their starting classes because I like the unique sprites. :)
- I don't know what core I used to fix this issue but I'm happy that the problem with the pixelated portraits was fixed!
- It's a little difficult to use a Xbox controller for a N64 game most of the time but thankfully this game doesn't make TOO much use out of the C buttons.
Of course I had to complete this game first before the others because it's my favorite game of all time! The achievement count would've been MUCH HIGHER if I spent the time finding the treasures on all the maps but I'm too lazy to boot the save back up and get those done. I'm sure I'll replay this in the future and get the lower CF achievements as well as the missed treasures, I tend to replay this game every two years or so.
The majority of these screenshots were posted to my old Tumblr but whatever. There's not a lot since I can't tell which screenshots I have saved on my hard drive are from this playthrough specifically.
AHHH HOLY FUCK WHAT DID I DO HERE?!?!?! It was just the beginning of this mission briefing and went away when I restarted the game.

More silly names! Although the name 'Boner' in the PS1 version of Tactics Ogre takes the cake.

btw this is just the boss of a mission, a non important character with a very easy boss fight but GOD DAMN this is the best quote in the history of gaming
This is my second favorite quote in the game. The script for this video game is so good and if this game ever gets remade (HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAJLKHDJKFSHD NO) I pray to god that it doesn't get the Tactics Ogre treatment.

Fun fact: if Destin's unit gets ambushed while sleeping he'll be the only character awake when the battle starts. Pretty sure that he doesn't have to be the leader of the unit but I'm not completely sure.

On the topic of Magnus' birthday, which is June 25th / Trueno 12, judging by some of the later dialogue apparently it's Dio's birthday too? (Except he's one year older.) Maybe I'm misremembering things. Anyway, that would make both of them under the Leo star sign, which is a fire sign. (I'm a Virgo so I'm googling all of this.) Reading up on the Leo zodiac sign it seems like it would fit Dio much, MUCH more than Magnus but *shrug* Like I said, I'm probably misremembering things and it is Magnus' canon birthday. I was going to write something about how the only other character I can think of from my fandoms with canon birthday would be Kabal from Mortal Kombat BUT I CAN'T FUCKING FIND IT so nevermind.
I really was trying for 100 CF. :( I dunno if this was around when I played this run back in 2022 but if you want to know your CF (estimate?) look at your RA progress while playing the game.
